The High School Meme

tagged.jpg

I’ve been tagged by Carol with this reminiscing meme :)

THINK BACK TO 4th year high school… Let’s see how much you remember and how much you regret..

What section were you?
I belong to the last section IV-Joy. The wackiest and the most notorious section of all! :)

Who were your seatmates?
Can you believe I still remember almost every one’s seating arrangement? I belonged to the 2nd to the last row. Row 5, seat 2. My seatmates were Marissa (in front of me), Rob (right side), Tim/Joshua (left side), and Myra (behind me).

Still remember your english teacher?
Oh yes I do. Ms. Aquisay, the lady who doesn’t know a squat about grammar!

What was your first class?
I can’t remember but I guess it’s THE (Technology and Home Economics).

Made friends to the lower years?
Mostly my sister’s friends.

How was your class schedule?
I love school that time. Class schedule was okay. What I loved the most was that even if I come to class late (recess time already, yay!) my class adviser was lenient. All I needed to do was help her check test papers and compute grades and I was left to go my merry way :)

Made any enemies?
Ah yes! I was NOT a good person back then. I was the queen of all malditas hahaha

Who was your favorite teacher(s)???
Two… Ms. Clores, our teacher in 3rd yr actually. She was the best disciplinarian this side of the planet. And Mrs. Mendoza, our English teacher back in 1st yr and 2nd yr high. Nung 4th yr wala akong fave teacher na.

What sport did you play?
I write short stories. Is writing a sport? Hehehe… Seriously, I was, and still am, not a sports buff. I’d rather watch, thank you very much.

Were you a party animal?
Nope. Parties were never the “in” thing back then. I loved hanging out with friends, though. We would often hang out at my grandma’s house.

Were you well known in your school?
Modesty aside, yes.

SKIP CLASSES?
Quite a few first period classes. Tamad na akong pumasok ng maaga that time, excited going to college na hehe

Did you get suspended/expelled?
Nope. Had a few sessions with the guidance counselor but since I had really good grades, I just got reprimanded and that’s it.

Can you sing the alma mater?
Still can! I still know the lyrics :)

What was your favorite subject?
Math and English

Did you go to the dances?
No prom for us because the nuns were strict.

Where did you go most often during breaks?
Bulacan and Batangas

What did you do on the last day of school?
Signed uniforms and had mine signed :)

My high school life is the best for me. Had so much fun and the friends that I made are still my friends up to now.

I am tagging Tim/Joshua, Emmyrose, Fingertalks, Pam, Maiylah and Laarni.

Happy Monday!

Monday Love

Today March 2008 will end. I know most of you are rushing to get your work done so you will not worry about it when you go on leave for a summer vacation. Accountants and auditors and everyone in inventory are rushing to get the annual reports submitted on time. Tax people are rushing to meet the April 15 annual ITR deadline. And spring cleaning is being done in most households.

With all the rush going on around you, I know you are feeling so stressed out and unbalanced. I found this simple solution…

A simple ten or fifteen minute breathing meditation can help you to overcome your stress and find some inner peace and balance. *

  • Stop distractions and make your mind clearer and more lucid.
  • Choose a quiet place to meditate and sit in a comfortable position.
  • >>Sit in the traditional cross-legged posture or in any other position that is comfortable. The most important thing is to keep our back straight to prevent our mind from becoming sluggish or sleepy.

  • Partially close your eyes and turn your attention to breathing.
  • Breathe naturally, preferably through the nostrils, without attempting to control your breath.
  • Try to become aware of the sensation of the breath as it enters and leaves the nostrils.
  • >>This sensation is the object of meditation. Try to concentrate on it to the exclusion of everything else.

Feel relaxed and ready to tackle Monday head on?

Happy Monday with a lot of lovin’ everyone!

Weekend Snapshot Ed#9

This was a photo taken at Subic during my friend Rob’s wedding. Can’t wait to go to the beach!

Have a great week ahead everyone!

Do you have a life insurance?

Oops, before you think of anything else, this is NOT a paid entry okay?

I am just curious about it. Do you have one? When did you start paying for one?

I got one around 2003. But my mom’s medical bills and tuitions fees were more important in budgeting, paying the premiums got bumped off again and again. I opted to discontinue the insurance instead.

This year, I am turning 30 already by August. No life insurance. No health insurance. Just the other day, I woke up after an hour of sleep thinking about my situation. I don’t know if I should get one now and end up with a high amortization amount and smaller surrender value or just save every extra penny I have for the future.

What do you think?

Happy weekend everyone! Enjoy the sun :)

I am Catholic

I was talking to a friend of mine about the scripture tags on my sidebar about a week ago. We really love the messages of the scripture tags and personally, it reminds me of Him. Last night, my sister and I tinkered with her blog. She also want the same scripture tag on her sidebar.

Around 3am, we were talking about how boring most Catholic blogs are. When I learned about Christian Women Online, I was not really keen on joining because as the name suggests, it is for Christian women. But when I read their site, I was inspired. I love how practical the posts are. Nothing too preachy there. I love how they tackle the scriptures and apply it to ordinary lives. So I joined. Visit their site and you’d know what I am talking about.

I just wish there are Catholic sites like CWO catering to women and that is not too preachy. I love Bo Sanchez’ blog. I read it. Again, not too preachy. I am sure there are a lot of Catholics like me who are searching for inspiring blogs like the CWO.

You know sites like these?

Lighthouse

This is a lighthouse in Hundred Islands, Pangasinan, Philippines. We went there last December and had a family gathering of sorts. This is one of the highest structure in the area. I remember when I was a kid, I went up there and it was really high. You could see the nearest islands and can see farther with binoculars.

Happy weekend everyone!

QOTW #4

1. Have you ever had a summer romance? Care to share? Hahahahaha… This will be in my mind for the rest of the week! Hahaha… Yup! Had one, the same guy, for a number of summers. It was all good. I remember the ice creams, the guitar sessions, the pa-cute! Hahahaha
Good one, Yen!
2. Do you believe in love at first sight? No. That’s infatuation. Because ultimately, you need to be able to talk to the person at least twice before you know for sure that you love him or her. What if the guy is devilishly handsome but when you talk to him he can barely form two words? That’s a turn off for me!
3. ‘You don’t marry someone you can live with, you marry the person who you cannot live without.’ What do you think of this quote? I think this quote is made by someone young and in love! Hahaha… It is more practical to live with a person you can live with. Less hassles. You marry someone you can live without but he turns out to be an major pain in the ass??? Cynical me!
4. Where does true beauty lie? On the inside or on the outside? Always inside. Physical beauty fades. In the long run, the beauty of a person’s heart is more important.
5. Did you ever had a crush on a classmate or teacher? Who was it? His name is Anthony and I’ve had a crush on him for the longest time! Last year lang nawala hehehe
6. Summer wear….shorts or capris? Shorts. Even though I have enormous thighs, I still love the freedom shorts gives.
7. Would you ride a roller coaster or sky dive? I’d rather sky dive. I hate roller coasters!
8. Last stupid thing you have done? Eat baked mussels on an empty stomach :(
9. Any summer plans? Trips, vacations and etc. Where? Next week, we will be celebrating my dad’s 50th birthday in Baguio. We will be there for 3 days. Then on the last week of April, we are planning to go swimming either in Bataan or La Union :) Excited na!
10. In one word, define yourself! Fighter!

And there you have it.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Enjoy the rest of the week!

Bloghopping

Blogger Inspired

There is no specific day of when this type of entry of mine will come out. If and when I find a post that’ll inspire me to write something about it, then Blogger Inspired comes out. Like now.

Gellianne wrote something about Target: Blog Hop to 100 blogs and I was reminded of the time when I was still bloghopping like crazy daily.

I believe it was early 2005 when I started bloghopping like there’s no tomorrow. I was still maintaining an old blogger.com blog of mine and had no idea what a Page Rank was. I love bloghopping because I want to gain other blogger-friends. I used to exhaust 30%-50% of my day bloghopping. Every blogger who happens to be linked to one of my daily reads will receive a visit from me. And their linkies. That time, I usually go back and forth to a daily read’s blog several times a day to check if he or she comes up with a new entry or answers a previous comment I made. I was that crazy with bloghopping. I met some really cool people back then. And they’re still friends of mine. Some are still active with blogging, others have minimized, if not stopped, blogging altogether.

I just miss those times. Nowadays, there are just so many things I need to do in a day sometimes it drives me nuts. If time permits, I bloghop as much as I can. I love leaving comments, sometimes a very long one. And I read your blogs when I visit. I really do. That takes a lot of time for me because when I comment, I want it to be a comment related to the topic I am commenting on. I feel ashamed when I leave a generic comment. That is also the reason why if I know my time is limited, I don’t visit your blogs.

Now, what I primarily love about bloghopping is discovering great blogs. There is a new blog that my sister, LiLo, and I subscribed to. It is Panaderos’ A Man of My Town. We just love his entries!

I don’t have a target number of blogs I need to bloghop to anymore. Unlike before that I can bloghop to more than a hundred blogs a day. These days, I visit as many blogs as I can. And would ask for a link exchange from those blogs I truly liked. I subscribe to some. I used to think that I should specify a day of bloghopping alone. But I can’t follow that kind of schedule. Now my rule is: Leave me a comment and when I am free, I will return the visit. It may take a few days before I visit but rest assured that I will return the favor.

How about you, do you have “rules” that you follow in bloghopping?
