Priorities

I texted my friend this afternoon asking her if she is nagtatampo because I was not able to attend her baby shower last June 7. It was also the day I was supposed to meet another friend for lunch.
I had to beg off from the supposed appointments that day. That’s because I had to attend to a very important task. I had to go to a client of mine and then in the afternoon, it was time with my brother and sisters.
Sometimes, you have to choose between family and friends and well, as most of you would surely agree with me, family comes first. I just feel bad that my friend’s feeling bad about everything

I know exactly how you feel. Syempre, family comes first. But if she’s a real friend, she’ll understand sooner or later.
Just give her some time.

Did you tell your friend beforehand that you won’t be able to make it to her baby shower? If you did let her know days in advance that you won’t be able to make it due to a another commitment then there shouldn’t be any problem.
Otherwise, in the absence of an advance notice, we simply can’t expect a friend to understand as to why you missed an important event in her life. The appropriate courtesies still should have been observed.
