Monday morning blah
Every Monday morning, I try to wake up earlier than usual. It would be a signal for me to start my “work week” in a positive light. Every Monday morning, I pray for a productive week, not only to finish my tasks but also to bring in good luck and positive energy. This is almost a ritual already.
There are Mondays, of course, when circumstances would prevent me from following my ritual. And from being positive. Like today.
This morning, I had to accompany my sister for a check-up. She hasn’t been feeling well for almost a week now, complaining of dizziness. She is a teacher and would always bring home papers to check. When she gets home, she would just rest, eat a little and watch tv for a while. Then she will go to sleep afterwards. In most days, that would be around 10pm. And then she will wake up around 3 or 4am to start a brand new day. Lately, because she also has to review for board exams, she gets as much as 2-3 hours of sleep and that’s it. She works at home (checking papers and all) even on Sundays. Her unhealthy working hours is eating away her energy and because of that, her health is suffering.
Check-ups are so expensive! Imagine, she had to go to the ophthalmologist to have her eyes checked. It turned out her eyes have allergies in it. 2 tests cost her 1,400 pesos already! And she still has to undergo another test worth 3,000 pesos. And another round of tests for her heart and nerves. Being even remotely sick can be stressful to your pocket.
I just pray that when we get back, the tests will turn out negative results. Her doctor suspects that her sensitive eyes are the cause of her dizziness. Allergic reaction causing her sinusitis. Her optic nerves are good when checked so that’s great. But with the round of tests to be done, we never know.
This is the reason why I hate hospitals and check-ups. I never had a good experience with doctors and it is eating at my faith in Him. My sister’s dizziness may turn out to be plain eye problems (with the allergies) that could be solved easily. But the negative feeling brought on by my experiences with my brother’s leukemia and my mom’s kidney problems is still here.
Please pray for my sister that the eye problem is just nothing but allergies. I will really appreciate it if you could utter a prayer, even a short one, for her. Thank you.

I pray that the results will be negative. Keep on calling His name. Whenever my son or husband is sick, I whisper a prayer almost single minute.
Take care.
