Negative constants

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Regret is something I can never take away from my system. And worry. These are the two negative constants in my life. Growing up, as most Filipino first-born, I was taught to take care of my siblings. I was taught to help my mom manage the finances. I was always reminded to behave because I have 4 siblings who were looking up to me (our youngest, James, was born when I was already in 2nd year high school). Maybe, because of too many restrictions in my life before, I rebelled in my own way. I did so many mistakes even when I should have known better. I never stopped until I knew I was done for.

You know, these regrets and worries about my future keep on surfacing whenever I see someone’s life mapped out beautifully before him or her. It surfaces whenever I see someone my age who is accomplished and has everything life can offer. It surfaces when I see a colleague who has already moved up the corporate ladder, seemingly sure of where s/he wants to go. Not that I want to go up the corporate ladder, just the confidence they have of what they want out of their careers.

A good friend of mine talked to me about her goal for next year. The regret and worries surfaced once more. Thus this post.

This Thursday afternoon…

We went to SM North Edsa again to buy a gift for my inaanak, Gabriel Jacinto. He’s turning 1 this Saturday and there will be a kiddie party at Burger King. Gab is May’s son. May is my friend since 2nd year college. She’s the one who was always there to lend a hand when I encounter financial difficulties in the past. I never heard her say no when I asked for help. Being Gab’s godmother seals our friendship.

It is really tiring to go out of the house. I wonder if ever I go back to the corporate world, it would be a major adjustment for me. I got so used to being at home and going out only when necessary. Oh well, one of my strengths is I easily adjust to any given situation. Hopefully, I can still draw this strength when the time comes.

Anyway, Twilight posters are everywhere! You can read about the upcoming movie in just about every entertainment website right now. The movie will be shown on November 21 in the US while here in Manila it will be shown on November 26. I’ve heard there is a celebrity premier on November 25. As if those actors and actresses really know the story!

I can’t wait! Ang laki ng poster sa SM! Shen, Tim and I will be watching it on opening day. Kung di pwede si Tim, bahala siya! Hahaha

Before I end this post, I would just like to tell everyone THANK YOU for always visiting and for the comments. It means a lot to me :)
And be safe! We have a tropical storm here in the Philippines again.

Time flies so fast. Just last week, we were busy preparing for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. This week, we are starting with the Christmas preparations already. Before we know it, it will be New Year’s Eve once again!

I will post more updates tonight. I have some errands to run first :)
Happy Thursday everyone!

Not so easy move

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

A friend of mine who is working in New York City is looking for a reputable New York Moving Company. With the economic slump, she is currently considering moving to a city where the cost of living is lower than that of New York. She still has her work but she can request their office to transfer her to another state where there is another company office. I hope that her move will be easy for her. She’s been living in New York for the past six years now. It will be hard to leave the city that easily but then she has a family here in the country that she needs to consider whenever she receives her paycheck.
