Me, at home.

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

I look out the window from time to time, taking the vibe of my surroundings. I don’t socialize that much with the neighbors, though. No, I am not a snob. It’s just that my parents reared me this way. We keep to ourselves. We hardly bother neighbors.

My dad is friendly. He is friends with almost everyone in the neighborhood. He grew up here and most of the parents in our neighborhood are childhood friends of his. So that saves us from exerting effort in being friends with everyone. My dad is our family’s “representative”, so to speak. Same goes with my mom when she was still alive.

5 Simple rules to be happy

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

happy_face

  1. Free your heart from hatred… Forgive.
  2. Free your mind form worries… Most never happens.
  3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
  4. Give more.
  5. Expect less from people but more from God.

It is easy to say these things, I know. Harder to put into practice. But if we just keep in mind that happiness starts within ourselves, we could somehow reach that plane where we are experiencing real happiness. Or something close to that.

Secure your love ones' future

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

If there is one person in this side of the world who understand what it is like to lost someone in a snap of a finger, that would be me. I lost a brother to leukemia almost a decade ago. We just thought that it was stomach cramps or something like that. But it turned out to be something fatal. A life snuffed just like that.

Then, it was my mom. She died a little over three years ago. A rare kidney disease took away her life. With these two deaths in the family, I can appreciate the importance of preparing for the future more. A life insurance, therefore, is of utmost importance to me. What if I go the same way as my brother, in a little less than a year? I have to make sure that I will leave something for my family when the time comes.

I am the breadwinner in the family. I take care of my dad’s and my youngest brother’s needs. My other sisters are already working on their own. But for the two men in the family, I need to be able to provide and give them a more secure future.

USA Life Insurance has the same goals as mine. A secure future for my love ones once something happens to me. Get rates that you can afford by going to their web site. You can find the one that best suits your needs. Visit USALifeInsurance.com now and get the information you need to secure the future of your love ones.

WS: Chinese New Year

tikoy-anyone
Tikoy, anyone?

My sister teaches at a Chinese school somewhere in Manila. Her students, all Chinese of course, gave her boxes of Tikoy. Tikoy, according to Chinese, is a sign of good luck. It means that luck and success will stick with you throughout the year.

assorted
Did you know that there are other flavors of tikoy besides the usual white one? Ube is my favorite!

It’s the Year of the Ox. The Ox, or the Buffalo sign symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. We need to work hard people.

Happy (Chinese) New Year everyone!

Virtual servers anyone?

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Do you need virtual servers? I remember in the company I was employed with, we have this virtual server to save large applications and files on. VDS is such that. VDS stands for Virtual Dedicated Servers. You can have one for your company without the high costs of purchasing and maintaining an actual server. Install applications and softwares there and let your employees or IT group access it from there. No need to buy an actual server like most big businesses do. You will cut down on costs of the server itself and the costs of repairs and maintenance.

Interested? Go and check out RapidSwitch.com now.

My Japanese Girl search homepage

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

shinysearch

Shiny Search is awesome! I went to the web site, ShinySearch.com and chose Japanese Girl as the style and keyed in my name. See the look of my search homepage above? Isn’t it great? You can do that as well!

Go to Shiny Search and choose from among their many styles there. You can choose from Guys’ styles, Girly, Kids, Christian, Gothic, Fun Logo and other designs. I love those under the Girly and Kids’ Styles. After choosing the style you like, your custom search homepage is now done. It’s that easy!

After creating your custom search homepage, you will notice four pulldown menus at the top portion of the homepage. Check Email, Friends, News and More. Under Check Email, you can easily access your email accounts in Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail and AOL. I am using Yahoo and Gmail so this homepage comes in very handy to me. You can also access your social networking accounts like Myspace, Facebook and Friendster under the Friends menu. I am the type of person who checks the latest news a couple of times a day. So the News menu is very useful to me. I can access CNN, Yahoo and Google News, BBC, FoxNews, People and ESPN there. While the More menu contains links to Youtube and other important web sites people frequently acess including Craigslist.

What do you think? Should you customize your search homepage now? I just did, you know! Go and visit ShinySeach.com and make sure you customize that search homepage right away!

General cleaning weekend

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

cleaningsuppliesMy sister and I bought some cleaning supplies for this coming weekend. If plans push through, there will be a general cleaning on Saturday and Sunday here at home.

This was supposed to have been done last December but due to the flu that afflicted the family one after another, not to mention the numerous affairs we went to, the general cleaning was pushed again and again. My brother is complaining about the cobwebs already so we decided that this weekend should be it. Vacuum, hand gloves, broom and dustpan, and the cleaning supplies that we bought yesterday should do the trick :)
Good luck to my sinus this weekend! I am sure there will be a lot of sneezes and a headache afterward. Oh yes, even with a face mask. A clean room is worth it, though.

Help in moving

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Because he is friends with almost every one in his neighborhood, he didn’t have to use one of those moving services to help him with his relocation. He is now living in another city. One of those who helped him was my uncle, that’s why I learned of his move.

I remember helping a cousin move to the province. I was grumbling at first but it turned out to be unexpectedly fun. And we get to go to the nearby beach because we stayed there for a week. It was one of the best memories of my teenage years.

Pasto

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

One of my favorite restaurants is Pasto. It is located in Eastwood City. I love their seafood pasta so much! Actually, I am craving for one right now. They also serve some of the best desserts I’ve ever tasted. My sister and I are planning to go there this coming Friday. After that I am sure we will need some of the best diet pills to get rid of the tons of calories we consumed.

Summer is coming!

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

swimsuitHere in Manila, summer is fast approaching. Whereas a few weeks ago it was freezing here, now you can feel the summer heat. Summer is officially on by March until early May. Of course, we need swimsuits so we can hit the beach!

Should we choose the print swim suit or those detailed crochet swim suits? It will hide unnecessary bulges, you know. It will be great to be able to wear something that will not make you unconscious, right?

Hey, if you are preparing for the coming summer like me and the rest of my family, go to ShopWiki. Check out their Summer Style Guide for Women. Choose the style that suits you. I am excited because after the months of cold, it would be great to be able to lie under the sun and soak in it. And this will be a time to spend time and bond with the family again. Check out ShopWiki.co.uk now.
