I rarely get to talk to this friend of mine, an old co-worker who was also a mentor of sorts. I was surprised that she went online a couple of nights ago. She was chatting with her sister who’s in London and I happen to log in to my account. So we chatted about life in general. She’s still working for the company I used to work for, where I met her. She was not exactly my superior but she’s more senior than me, age-wise and position-wise. She’s 58 years old now, according to her and is considering an early retirement. She said that since she still has a teenager son with whom she wants to spend more time with, she is seriously considering availing of the package.
She’s been looking into retirement living for a year now. Her husband is already 66 years old and they both want a place where they can spend their senior years in quiet.
