easy

Happy weekend everyone! I think for us in Manila, it will be a wet weekend since it’s raining really hard right now. Still, enjoy whatever you plan to do ;)

Stay safe!

Yey! =)

My Taglish post helped! I’m done with the lack of productivity. Yey!

I would have continued the marathon writing except that someone irritated the hell out of me so I will sleep this off for now.

Be back later for more.

Scattered thoughts

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Sa totoo lang, wala akong coherent thought for today. Puro umpisa lang. Kaya naisip kong sumulat sa Tagalog. Para magtuloy-tuloy lang yung train of thought ko. Otherwise, I would end up stuck with half-formed thoughts the whole day. Hay.

scattered

Ganyan kakalat ang utak ko ngayon :(

Ang dami ko pang dapat tapusin. Magmo-mall muna kami ng sis ko at ni Hazel para malibang nang konti. Quezon City Day ngayon at walang pasok silang dalawa. Makapagmuni-muni muna sa mall ;)

BYBS: Own house

cartoon-house

When my parents were newly married, they befriended and took care of an elderly neighbor, Manong Pulong, who was all alone. They fed him, clothe him and made sure that he’s safe. My parents were not expecting anything in return. They just took pity of the old man who seemed to have no relative of his own. When old Manong Pulong got really sick, my parents took care of his medical bills until the day he died. It should have been the end of it but my dad was surprised when he was told that the house and lot of old Manong Pulong was given to him. It was a thank you for all those years my parents took care of him. He had no relatives who came forward to claim his land so my dad took it. We are now living on the land that my dad got from him.

All these years, we took for granted the fact that we have our own house and lot. We would just shrug off the fact that we have privacy when most families don’t have because they share homes with their extended families. And most importantly we don’t pay rent. Unlike them who don’t know where to get their next rental payment.

I realize that our own house is a big blessing to us. We may live in a not so nice neighborhood but at least we can lock our doors, close our windows and just turn up the volume of our tv set and we’re on a world of our own already. If that is not a blessing, I don’t know what is ;)

On sale

asus

My sister is now a blogger like me. She’s also already earning and is saving up her earnings to buy her own netbook. Her target is the ASUS M51A-F1 Notebook. It’s actually on sale at Buy.com but her savings is still not enough to cover the cost.

I bought my own laptop and desktop from my earnings. As well as most new items at home. I am hoping and praying for a bigger income in the months to come. I want to be able to save up for a down payment for a project I am hoping to start before the year ends.

My own lullaby

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

My grandma lives a few houses away from us and it faces a truck accessories business. When I was a kid, I used to stay with my grandma and my grand-aunts. At night, I loved the sound of vehicles passing by. It made me feel less scared of the shadows and the unknown. The business in front of my grandma’s operates in the middle of the night, packing accessories for delivery the next day. So there’s a flurry of activity in the bodega and when I couldn’t sleep, I would just look out the window and watch what’s happening in the property in front.

It was my lullaby back then. And I miss it.

This week…

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

I am praying for a productive week. I don’t like always rushing to do things and that’s what happened because I was too lazy last week. This time, I want to be able to update my blogs, do pending tasks that are not yet due, finish up a project I am in the middle of completing, and catch up with Tim and Shen. Maybe even go visit my aunt who lives in another city.

I believe the reason for the laziness was the bad news I got the day after my birthday. But then the past few days, I realize I can do something about it so I need not be depressed over it. God willing, it will be something that I can overcome soon. Hopefully.

Dental check-ups

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

My sister has dental braces to straighten her crooked teeth as well as close the gaps between her teeth. It would have cost her quite a bit but because she has dental discounts, it lessened the dent on her savings account.

Dental treatment is one of the regular expenses I save up for. I make sure that we all have healthy teeth and gums. Do you know what they say about how you can feel the pain from a tooth down your whole body? It’s true! I hate that! So my family and I just go regularly to the dentist for cleaning and filling.

Grocery shopping with Hazel

hazelgrocery

When I go grocery shopping, Hazel will make sure she comes with me. That’s because she loves choosing items for the kitchen. That little girl also knows the regular items I buy. And would even scan items at the barcode scanner when she realizes it’s the first time I am buying it. She’s that clever! Do you know that she even reminds me what to buy or if I forget something important? She’s only 3 years old, by the way. ;)

A visit filled with reminiscences

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

I got a surprise visit from one of my high school classmates the other week. It was originally intended just to ask for health insurance leads from me since he knows I used to work in one of the big call center companies in the city. But it turned to be a pleasant visit filled with reminiscences of our high school life and the people we both know.

The visit would normally annoy me since it was done to get information from me, which I don’t really appreciate. Well, who wants to be used right? But then I have been in a pleasant state for the past weeks and trying to maintain the same state for weeks to come. Thus, the positive way I accepted the visit.

TrueBlood

True Blood. My Newest Obsession.

True Blood. I’ve watched Season 1 in 2 weeks. I am now done with all the current episodes of Season 2 and can’t wait for episode 9 to air! The series has a lot of nudity and violence in it but I love the story. You will get hooked to it! I sure do.

Step away and see things clearly

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Not all of us have high endurance for stress. Some are going crazy because of too much pressure at work, from the family. I used to know someone who cries while having lunch because she just couldn’t stand the things that were happening in her life. I remember telling her to take a vacation leave and reassess her situation. She did after months of seeing her cry again and again. When she came back after a week away from work, I learned that she resigned right away, took all her savings and opened a mini grocery in their province. After a year, when I saw her again getting certifications she needed from the company, she was looking radiant! Happy and satisfied with her decision. Her mini-grocery store is now a big and the only supermarket in their area. It is a big success! And she opened two more businesses.

Sometimes, we just need to step away from everything that’s happening in our lives to be able to see it more clearly. Book a destin vacation rental. Get away from work and family. Be by your lonesome. Think things through. You just never know, it might be the only thing you need to be able to assess the current state of your life.
