Hazel's safety

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Hazel is a typical kid. She loves to run around the house so we make sure that she is safe and won’t bump onto hard objects. We moved the big items to the wall for her safety. We put some things on top of a shelf so she can’t reach it. I even suggested to my dad to buy plastic knobs so there’s no possibility of her bumping her head to it.

We love that little girl and we’ll do everything to make her safe.

Enough room

Monday, September 28th, 2009

We have two old plasma mounts stored. It was from a relative who migrated abroad. When they moved out of their house, my dad helped and he was able to get some things including the plasma mounts. I told him he should have gotten the plasma tv instead! Hahaha

Well, the two plasma mounts will go to my aunt. We are giving away things in our storage room because we need the space. Having limited space at home, we need to clean out almost every quarter to make sure we have enough room to move around on.

Might not work for me

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I am reading phentermine side effects because a friend is taking it. I know that she’s losing weight and it’s effective on her. I am thinking of getting it for myself but I want to know more about it before anything else. Just to be safe. I have allergies and what might work for my friend might not work for me, right?

A more coherent update

Monday, September 28th, 2009

This is a more coherent update…

I rented a computer yesterday to be able to do some pending tasks. I am doing it again right now because the internet connection as well as landline services of Bayantel have not yet been restored. It’s a lot of hassle, to tell the truth. I would have been more understanding if ALL telecom services are down as well. But PLDT’s services are up and running even through the storm. I know their landline service is okay. I don’t know with their DSL but my guess is they also have it.

Anyway, so there were floods in our neighboring streets. All gone now, thank God. There was a fire during the raging storm last Saturday in Agno Ext. which is a block away from us. We all panicked because the fire was transferring to other properties through the electric line. I packed all my important stuff including my laptop, external harddrive and other gadgets. My sisters packed the important documents and some clothes. We really thought it might cross the street to the building in front of my grandma’s house and if that happened, it would mean evacuation time for all of us in our neighborhood. There were firetrucks everywhere but they could not get near the property where the fire started because of the neck-deep and two-storey deep floods. I’ve been hearing that the street next to ours can go as high as almost six feet in flood waters. But it was only on Saturday that I saw it when I went to check what’s happening. I saw a man trying to walk through the murky flood water and his head was the only thing we could see of him. It was scary!

I am thankful that we may not like the state of our neighborhood anymore (what with all the new dubious faces, the squatter-like feel of it, the environment itself), but during an emergency like last Saturday, the original neighbors are still out full-force to help each other out. It’s actually changing our mind about relocating. Why would we want to transfer somewhere else when we are safe and dry whenever there’s a raging storm like Ondoy, right? We’re changing strategies about next year already. I am thankful. We are all thankful for being safe and dry last Saturday.

Which was the least you can say about the other people in this country, especially those from Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal and in Metro Manila even, particularly in Pasig, Marikina, Makati and here in Quezon City. Have you noticed that the calamity brought down the division between the rich and the poor? Everyone’s a victim, and a concerned fellowmen. Everyone’s helping each other out. The multinational companies and other local companies have pledged their help already. We all need each other right now.

Please pray for all the victims of Bagyong Ondoy (Tropical Storm Ondoy/Ketsuna). We really need prayers right now. So many people were left dead, injured or displaced by the storm and I do hope everyone will be able to rebuild their lives after this.

Have a safe week to everyone!

Memories of yesteryears

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

I was asked by an older relative to transfer an 8mm film to DVD. Not by me, particularly, but by an expert. Good thing a friend told me about Video Conversion Experts.

We are a family who loves to get together for some fun. Especially on summers and holidays. And whenever we are together, expect hundreds of photos and a dozen or so videos taken during that occasion. Even simple occasions like a birthday party would merit getting the services of a videographer. Thus, the many videos by my relative.

Video Conversion Experts can transfer film to DVD and make it look like the original version of it. They can restore films to their original resolution. I know that aside from the films of my relative, we also have films from my grandma’s collection. Even when she was young, the great grandparents also loved to film special occasions. I remember seeing an old film of my grandma’s debut celebration. It was a lot of fun watching it! We were able to catch a glimpse of relatives we weren’t lucky enough to meet anymore. We were able to see how parties were held before. We were able to see our great grandparents have fun. It was a very special film in my grandma’s collection. And you will notice it right away because it’s the most used one.

FILM TO DVD conversion? Go to VideoConversionExperts.com now! Now I am thinking that aside from my relative’s film, I might as well include that of my grandma’s. I know that she will appreciate the restoration of some of the memories of yesteryears frozen in time. I am thinking of starting a collection of my own.

Anyway, bookmark this web site now: VideoConversionExperts.com where quality transfer and restoration services of films to DVDs are their expertise.

Quick update

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

We don’t have an internet connection. Globe’s signal is erratic in our area. I am in a computer shop right now because I need to finish some pending tasks. But this will be quick as it’s raining once more. I’m a scaredy cat so I’m off to go home after this.

No, there’s no flood in our street but neighboring streets had neck-deep flood waters. Daming namatay at the next street because of a fire. Anyway, I will be back to update once more. Baka tomorrow na. For now, I ask that you pray for the victims of Tropical Storm Ondoy. Ang dami talagang napahamak.

Bye for now!

Conflict with work schedules

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Some people doubt the legitimacy of online education. For me, in this day and age of technology, anything is possible already. And that includes going to an online university for a degree.

Capella University offers an fully online university where you can get your master’s or PhD degrees. I know that most working adults find it hard to get a higher degree because of their work schedules. But with an online university like Capella, all you need is a computer and a quiet place where you can study. No need to allot time for transportation or finding a parking spot.

You know what, hear it from the people who experienced it personally. Go to http://www.capellacommons.com for their testimonies. And then go directly to Capella.edu to enroll or gather more information about this accredited online university.

4th death anniversary

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

It’s my mom’s 4th death anniversary on the 29th. She died on September 29, 2005. We’ve already moved on but the memories will forever linger. She will forever be in our hearts. There are days when I miss her so bad. Especially when my dad’s cooking is bad hahaha

There will be regrets, yes. I regret that the vacations I was able to share with the family and the relatives I was not able to share with her. I regret that the house I have in mind she won’t see go to fruition anymore. I regret that she won’t see my brother graduate from college, or one of us get married, or her grandchildren… But I can live with that. That’s life, anyway. It’s never been fair.
