A handmade crocheted beaded silk scarf. I am looking for unique gifts for her, you know, my childhood friend, Lyra, whom I haven’t seen for years. My uncle told me that Lyra’s mom wanted me to know that she’s coming for a vacation. She is working abroad and have been living there for five years now. We’ve lost touch in college but managed to see each other from time to time. And during those times we saw each other, it was like we were back at their playground, kids again.
When I heard that she’s coming over for a vacation, I told myself that I will go over to her house to see her. Of course, I want to give her something to remember me by. And a silk scarf is a good gift since I know that it’s already chilly where she is. Who knows, it might take years for us to see each other again. Better that she has something that will remind her of me.
I have to acknowledge the fact that since I am not in my 20′s anymore, it will be harder for me to lose weight now than before. Plus the fact that I am always in front of the computer, and will only get up to go on bathroom breaks. Or to eat. Sometimes, I even eat my meals in front of the computer. But I have promised myself that I will do something about this weight problem. Especially for next year…
There are quick weight loss products I can turn to. In fact, my sister who is also overweight like me, is trying one product at the moment. She feels it’s effective so I will try it as well. Wish me luck! I am bringing out our stepper as a way to ease into a regular exercise routine.
Crazy for You by Madonna. This song is for my girl friend, Shen, who’s crazy in love right now. With the one from the winds hahaha

For most of you who regularly read or pass by this blog, you know that one of my best friends is another blogger, Tim. She blogs at Joshuakieffer.com. I mentioned here and here that a friend needs prayers. It’s Tim. She needed and still needs our prayers. Why?
She has a Mycosis Fungoides, a type of Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma, in other words, a rare kind of skin cancer. She is so young and only just started a family…
Please pray for Tim. I really do hope she gets past this, even for her husband and her daughter. If you can include her in your prayers for today when you go to church…
Our little girl will be turning 4 on the 16th. She won’t be having a party this time around. We are just planning to have a birthday dinner for her and will shop for some gifts. She’s growing so much each day and we are enjoying this time with her. I am praying that she will grow up to be a God-fearing person and will stay as good as she is now.
Life throws unexpected curved balls to us. We’ve been dreaming for years and years to achieve things and when we do, we are suddenly told that our lives will be cut short. Pinatikim ka lang pala.
How come so many bad people are living the best time of their lives while the good ones are suffering?
How come people who want to die are given longer lives while the ones whose days are numbered seem like their lives are getting even shorter?
Life is a big mystery. There are days when I would think about my brother who died when he was 15 and would think that why him? He was too young. I have a feeling that I might die young, too. When you haven’t seen death yet, you’d think that you are invincible and that life is stretched in front of you. You’d grow old and wrinkled. But when you’ve seen someone you love breathe their last, that will change.
Death is just around the corner, waiting to pounce on you. Sounds morbid? But it’s the truth!
I love traditions. We have a lot of family traditions that we follow to date. But I also love to be different in other things. Like instead of a traditional wedding, why not destination weddings at Karisma Hotels for something new, right?
I keep thinking of that great wedding entrance dance and how it’s so non-traditional. At Karisma Hotels, you are assured that there is nothing traditional to a wedding to be held there. You can choose from the different divinely favored properties located at the Mexican Riviera Maya. I think, since I am a foodie and most of my family and friends are foodies as well, the Gourmet Inclusive is the one for me. It boasts of a good dining experience for the sophisticated traveler. And for those who are not easily pleased. Imagine a wedding where the food will be a prelude to a great party!
If you are interested in a destination wedding, go to KarismaHotels.com and get a wedding like no other.
It’s rare that I feel this need to chat with friends. I mean these days when I am busy most of the time or lazy or in my own world reading a book…
But this past week, I managed to have decent chats with friends I haven’t talked to for months. I realized that I truly miss them. I’ve grown really close to two people who I met while I was working for a graphics company. They were my staff but have become more of my friends outside of work. We’ve managed to keep in touch all these years and when we talk, it’s like we never lost any time at all. I don’t feel like that with all my friends. But with them…
We might see each other this coming week. Dinner most likely. And it’ll be a looong dinner for sure.
Sobra talagang bilis ng takbo ng araw. Last Friday, we started a novena in honor of the Queen of the Holy Rosary La Naval de Manila. This is a family tradition that we do once a year. It culminates on the 2nd Sunday of the month of October which is the town fiesta as well. Every year, there’s always a special lunch prepared at my grandma’s house. This year, there will be none of that. It will be an ordinary Sunday for all of us. I doubt if there will be families celebrating the fiesta this year. I think it’s a bit insensitive to the plight of the victims of Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, don’t you think?
Anyway, I am back to my reading mode. Ha! I finished two books already and is already 20% through the third one. My bookworming powers are back! I think I’ll be able to finish the book by Sunday night.

With the recent typhoons that hit the country, I realized that the most important thing is that your family is together. Nothing beats the peace of mind brought about by the knowledge that your family is safe and complete. I really thank God that it was a Saturday when Ondoy hit the country. All my siblings were home then. I keep wondering if it hit on a week night and my sister was still working in Makati or on the way home…
Our overwhelming need to relocate changed because of Ondoy and Pepeng. We are now re-evaluating our plans. Imagine, our street was the only one that did not experience any flooding during the recent typoon Ondoy. The places we’ve looked into were flooded. Relocation is not an option for us anymore. We figured that this is the safest place for us right now.
I love reading romance novels. In one of the many novels I’ve read in the past, the one entitled Perfect by Judith McNaught is a favorite. In the story, the lead male character was hiding from the law because he was accused of killing his ex-wife. He hid in a beautiful cottage owned by the Farrells in the mountains. Ever since I read that story, I knew I wanted to try going on a holiday and staying in a cottage instead of a hotel.
There are holiday cottages available for those who are interested of renting out one. There is more privacy in getting your own place for your holiday vacation than booking a room in a hotel. You can do whatever you want in a cottage without the need to consider that there is someone in the next room. A cottage or a chalet is all yours for your stay. If you are staying longer than a week, a cottage might be cheaper compared to a hotel room. You know how a hotel room has limited capacity, right? If you are traveling with the whole family, you might need to book two to three rooms. That will add up to a pretty sum. With self catering cottages, the worry of overspending with accommodation is taken away.
Plus, you can cook the food you want and not worry that it is overpriced or not on the menu! Or someone might be on a diet and the food you want is not on the menu…
If you are planning on going on self catering holidays soon, I suggest you plan it, book a house yourself. Go to Holiday-Rentals.co.uk now. Surely, you will find a house that will meet your requirements. You only need to search using their web site. Remember, every destination has a house/cottage/chalet for rent. And you can locate one through Holiday-Rentals.
My Own Utopia was conceived when my main blog became too "commercialized". I needed a more personal place, my own utopia, where I can write about my personal experiences, the blessings that come my way, my faith, inspirations in my life, and other things that has a more personal tone.
