I am not sure if I have said it enough, but despite our differences, I truly appreciate my dad now more than ever. Ever since my mom died he stepped up and became both mom and dad to us. Even though my sisters and I are adults now, he still treats us like kids at times. But no complaints here. It’s totally okay with us because that’s him.
Happy Father’s Day to my dad and to all the dads out there in the world!

Have you noticed the change in this blog? I made it!
I was thinking of getting a new theme that I can use here. But I really like the headers I had made by SimplyWP so I thought I will just do something about the layout and will retain the use of the header. The two headers are being used alternately. I use the one with the woman lying on a beach somewhere when I feel like I need to get away. I also use it during the summer season. The rest of the year I use this header I am currently using.
Anyway, so I wanted a striped background. I found a stripe generator and used it to produce the background you are currently seeing. I then tweaked the stylesheet and index files a bit to come up with this new layout. Then I thought of using a page divider I got for free at Simply Fabulous Templates and voila!
I now have a new blog layout and I am loving it!

The recently concluded Boston Celtics versus Los Angeles Lakers NBA Finals was one of the best finals series I’ve watched. Of course, we all now know that LA Lakers won that series. I was actually rooting for Boston Celtics to win. Anyway, Boston Celtics tickets as well as Los Angeles Lakers tickets were so difficult to get according to my friends who followed the series, too. They had a hard time getting tickets because so many people wanted to watch it like them. I watched it on TV so it’s no problem to me. But I guess if you are a die hard LA Lakers fans like them, following the team around was worth it.

Live life.
These past few days, I am leaning more and more on Plan B. So what is Plan B, anyway? Plan A is actually to go on as is, with what I am doing right now and I am not about to make any changes to it. But things are not going as planned, thus, the need to go to Plan B. And Plan B means shaking things up in my life. It means changing the status quo.
It means going back. I feel sad when I think about it but I need to look for a positive side to things. Maybe, this is what I need. Maybe this is another challenge I have to face. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Who knows, right?
Right now, I am scared to go ahead but I keep telling myself that it will just be the same tomorrow so might as well do it NOW.

I had this childhood crush on a neighbor of ours. He lived at the house across our own. I remember he used to smile at me and I was so kinikilig that I couldn’t think of anything else but that smile.
We became friends, sort of. He would give me little things and I would not accept lest my parents get wind of what’s happening to my little thumping heart. If I am not mistaken, he was five years older than I.
Eventually, I outgrew my childhood crush. I still saw him from time to time. He was no longer living in the house across but his sister still lives there with her family. A few years ago, his sister told my dad that he died due to a riot in their province. He was not even a part of the riot but was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was just in his late 20′s and I couldn’t believe it when my dad told me. He was a big man with an obvious zest for life.
The last time I saw him alive, he smiled at me but I didn’t smile back. I wasn’t in the mood that time, stressed out from work. I should have smiled and said hi.

I am an old soul.
My mom loved those old Tagalog movies and we would watch it together. I was just a kid when we started doing this. I remember instead of a siesta, my mom and I would watch those old Dolphy movies and would spend hours laughing about it. I was a big fan of Nestor de Villa-Nida Blanca as well as Rogelio dela Rosa-Carmen Rosales movies. Just imagine if you don’t know my age you’d think I am that old!
I must say that it’s one of the best periods of my life. Those movies are for general patronage. Funny and dreamy and the guys in it were just swoon-worthy! The women played damsels in distress most of the time but they were also assertive. I just love those old movies!
Too bad they were not showing those anymore.

I am really waiting for this US cable TV show… Alan Ball’s True Blood Season 3! I really followed Season 1 and 2 and I loved both! I can’t wait for the next season to begin airing again. 2 more days and it’s the season premiere already!
Yay!
I just know it will be something to look forward to week after week.

My sisters bought Hazel a raincoat. She will be starting school by next week. Since it’s the rainy season here in Manila already, we want to be sure she’s protected from the rain. The raincoat is a little bit big for her but since it will cover her sufficiently, especially during heavy rains, my sisters bought it anyway.
Her daily schedule will be from 9 to 11 in the morning only. I pray she will have a good school year ahead.
